Mokurynn is the name of Moonshade's accomplice who is responsible for Rhea's murder.

They have not been introduced into a current plot-line yet and remain a back-story character. Next to nothing specific is known about them, the only hint of their appearance being a vague silhouette in Rhea's flashback.

History

Past

Most of Mokurynn's history is unknown and unclear. Their name appears to be a mash-up of those of Moku the Snake and Rynn the Flame Dragon, two of the Twelve Guardians, implying some relation to both of them. At some point Mokurynn had an egg that would later be taken by Moonshade for unknown reasons. Because of this however, Mokurynn would end up having to help him find and murder Rhea for reasons that only Moonshade knows.

Mokurynn's current whereabouts and activities are unknown at this time. There isn't any clue whether they're dead (presumably killed by Moonshade) or alive.

The Book of Records accurately stated that Mokurynn murdered Rhea for being the grandchild of Moku. However, Darius did not know who Mokurynn was.

Powers and Abilities

While unclear if it's due to some special power Mokurynn has or to other means, Mokurynn seems to be aware of who shares the same bloodline as Moonshade, since they were given the task of making sure that no one else related to him was alive.

Weapon Specialist: They appear to be skilled with a knife, throwing it straight into Rhea's heart from a distance. They wield a knife of peculiar shape that resembles Moonshade's, except for the two bells attached to the pommel.

Trivia

• A clue regarding Mokurynn's identity involves a Jakkai-like egg, which Moonshade states belongs to his cohort. This indicates Mokurynn is either a female or the father of this egg, and it also suggests Mokurynn is a Jakkai as well (assuming the egg isn't a Mixling).
  • The art in Rhea's memory appears to show Jakkai ears if you look closely as well.
  • The egg is the one Cliff Sinclair bought from a trader in Weyville where it went missing from Moonshade.
• Since Moonshade was in possession of Mokurynn's egg, Moonshade is either a friend or a blackmailer. Moonshade's lack of concern for the loss of the egg after Mokurynn had apparently completed the contracted assassination (of Rhea) seems to imply blackmail or a similarly disposable relationship.
  • However, when Moonshade started feeling the egg's own Guardian magic, he decided to go after it, showing its importance after all.
• Since Jakkai have communal hatcheries, the fact that Mokurynn's egg was explicitly singled out could imply that Mokurynn doesn't live in a Jakkai village; or it could have just been stolen before it was added with the others.
• When Rhea drank the yellow Rainbow Reverie potion and reconnected to Moku's bloodline, she heard a voice crying, saying "sorry" and telling her to "seek the egg". This voice could be Mokurynn's, apologizing for murdering her; this would imply they too have a connection to Moku.
  • Another way to read the phrase "Mokurynn's egg" could be that Mokurynn is the child within the egg. This could explain the crying Rhea heard, which she's heard before; however, how Mokurynn could then be the one to kill Rhea is unknown.
